Like Phaedrus2129 said, a large majority of mice use the same Omron D2FC-F-7N microswitch.

Buy ear plugs for your girlfriend. If she loves you, she'll plug her ears up and quit whining. wink.gif

The g9 is loud as all hell. Don't get it if you want a quiet mouse.

Found this post and wanted to say I always silence my clickers on new mice. I have two G9's I've silenced and a RAT 7. They are all super loud brand new but otherwise the G9 is the best mouse ever.

Disassemble mouse and pop open the little clicking box contraption carefully. Warning, the little white or green button part is easy to lose, use a clean large work area. Put a piece of electrical tape under the copper end of the mechanism that flicks back and forth to create the sound and electrical connection so it doesn't need move as far. Reassemble. You can typically make it half as loud with one piece of tape or totally with two.

^ Negative ^
my g9 is quietest... but i've used it for 2.5 years of nonstop gaming.
I didn't know that you could quiet a mouse...
I just recently bought razer adder ocz behemoth and ec2zowie... and right this moment i'm checking which is loudest and my g9 is significantly quieter.
I'll try getting a video of it eventually. need to get my hands on camcorder.

In order of loudness. my g9 is quietest then its the zowie then my da then ocz behemoth... the da and ocz almost have the same loud level but different pitch. Da has a high pitch.

Its probably because they are brand new. and i've had my g9 for so long.

My favorite clicker is the g9 ... its bouncier/springy and and when i press down it seems to take the shock more... doesnt feel like i hitting a hard surface... it has some give to it.

Well, there's this mouse I've seen on eBay, fairly inexpensive too, claiming to be a quiet gaming mouse:

http://cgi.ebay.com/JSCO-Noiseless-SILENT-Quiet-Clickless-Game-Mouse-Laptop-/120653639603?pt=Mice&hash=item1c17846fb3

There are a few other quiet mouse models that this seller has up on eBay as well. I don't have any experience with this mouse, nor with this manufacturer or seller, at all, so just take this as info on something that is out there on the market, and not necessarily a recommendation.
