I was very happy to hop in here and see this thread and not have to ask myself ater searching LOL! Good timing.

I'm running a 965BE also, just installed a xspc RX360 kit last night and it only hits 47c max under 4.2ghz/1.5v. So far I am impressed. This gives me some idea how hard I can push that voltage :-D

How much temp did you drop by lapping the CPU?

I live in Florida 2. There is a 6870 in my loop 3. I'm running a 965 at 4.35ghz, which what a surprise, makes a ton of heat. 4. This chip is hotter than some others, but oc's better than most others. But thanks none the less, your intensions were good I'm sure. doh.gif

My apologies, hella tired didn't read your sig or I must of read mine before I edited my system to say lapped under cpu. I'm gonna go hide in a corner now. Had tons of paperwork to finish tonight can barely keep my eyes open =/

That's a big OC. +rep

Judging by your temps, ALOT. I only have the rs360 kit, and I have a video card in the loop. I'm pushing an extra 150mhz through my cpu, an extra .5v, AND I have my video card maxed out at 1.3v at my sig speeds. With all that, I have the exact temps you do, and I live in Florida:eek:eek.gifeek.gif I didn't do a before and after comparison though, as soon as it arrived at my shop, I immediately lapped the block. And I also didn't lap it to a complete mirror finish either, I just made sure it was flat and no large scratches.

Thanks bro...... now quick question. My ram from the factory runs at 1.5v 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 timings. I currently have them running at 1.65v 1333mhz 6-6-6-18 timings. I can get them to run at 7-7-7-19 at 1600mhz. Is it better for AMD to run at faster speeds looser timings, or slightly slower speeds and tighter timings? I know my old i7 loved moar speed, but I'm pretty sure amd's love tighter timings right?

Wow mate wicked chip you got their

This dude has ran 1.6v for 4.4GHz with 3GHz NB

1.55V for air
1.6v for water

Just make sure you keep temps under control

4.0@1.55v my chip's idle is 29C, Load (occt 45C).
If I play games or run a bench like heaven I'm lucky to see the chip go over 34C.
That's with an H70 intake configuration.

run them at 1600 at cas 7. it should be pretty much the same but you get higher bandwidth. i dont like anything above cas 8 with any speed. keep it at 1600mhz. =) once again. very nice overclock. applaud.gif[

Also, I wouldn't recommend going past 1.55v on air cooling. But 1.60 for water would be okay.
