Which Build will give me more performance

I'm having trouble deciding if i want an AMD or Intel system

Here are the specs of the two systems

Intel Core i7 950
Gainward GTX 570
6GB G.Skill F3 Ram 1333mhz
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
EVGA X58 SLI3
OCZ Z Series 850W Modular
$1414 AUD

AMD 1055T
Asus Crosshair IV Formula
XFX HD6950 2GB
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
4GB Corsair Vengance (1x4GB; i will buy another stick later on)
OCZ Z Series 850W Modular
$1260 AUD

I'll be running 1920x1080, I'll be gaming (not hardcore gaming but every now and then), multi-tasking, occasional video encoding and working

I'll be overclocking to reach 4.0ghz-4.2ghz but i will buy a cooler in about a month or so after i buy the system, i already got a HAF 932 and i do save quite a lot from buying an AMD system but will the Intel system be much faster for my needs?

Just swap out the power supply... I don't trust any OCZ power supplies.
And you can probably get better memory for the same price for the i7 setup. Those G.Skills are generics.

never heard of gainward for gpu manufacturers...get an EVGA one and swap out that OCZ PSU since there POS'. oh and get some corsair ram...

So this?
Intel Core i7 950
EVGA GTX 570
6GB Corsair RAM 1333mhz
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
EVGA X58 SLI3
Corsair HX850 or Antec Truepower Quattro 1000W
$1450 AUD

Also i'd just like to know the advantages of the Intel system over the AMD
and should i get a 1x4GB Corsair DDR3 Vengance stick? i can afford another two sticks later on for 12GB of RAM with only taking up 3 slots. Its also cheaper to get that 1 stick but i'd just like to know if i should take that route or not

Get the cheaper kit, but maybe 1600MHz if you plan on overclocking which I guess you are from the OP.

Ultimately a SSD will yield the best performance if you're looking for a semi-cheap upgrade. A 60GB SandForce will cost ~$120 USD, not sure how much stores in Australia price them.

Save some money for RAM by picking a lower powered PSU, 1000W is way overkill, and even 850 really isn't necessary.

Gainward is not sold in the US, it's mainly Europe, Australia. AFAIK, they've been around for a long time.

Out of the 2 builds you have listed, the Intel/Nvidia one hands down. Definitely get a better quality PSU, something along the lines of Seasonic, Corsair, Enermax, and some Antec's (read reviews about the Antec first).

Okay how about this

Intel Core i7 950
EVGA X58 SLI3
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
Gainward/Galaxy/EVGA GTX 570 (Gainward and Galaxy save me $50 AUD, about 20-30USD)
1x4GB Corsair DDR3 Vengance
Corsair HX750

$1406 ($1356 with galaxy/gainward GTX 570)
