Best card for 1680x1050?

I'll be honest I'm completely lost when it comes to the market currently. There are so many cards it's impossible! I'm looking for a single GPU setup that will last me for the foreseeable future. Budget $300 (newegg.com only.)

MSI GTX460 Talon Attack?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127534&cm_re=msi_hawk-_-14-127-534-_-Product

MSI GTX470 Twin FrozrII?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127513&Tpk=msi%20470gtx

Gigabyte 5870?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-125-316&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Keywords=(keywords)&Page=1#scrollFullInfo

OR 6870 (Although I don't know if I should go with one with an after market cooling setup.)

Other suggestions are welcome.

Thank you in advance for your advice!

really, i would save up another $50 and get a GTX570 and beat all of those cards by a large margin. if you want to stay below $300, then the 6950 is right at $299 and its the most powerful card under $300.

i have 1680x1050 and the 5770 doesn't do too bad, but to max out games and such at this resolution, i would suggest a 5850 or better. your best bet might be waiting a bit for nvidia to release so more mid-range cards and the price war will begin and maybe the 570 will be $300 or the new midrange cards will be in your range

It depends on what game at what settings.

Metro2033 for example at max settings can make all cards except SLi'd 580s scream in agony.

I'd either get the GTX 470 or the 5870. I'd probably get the GTX 470 over the 5870 though.

i wouldnt go for old tech... wait for more new solutions or save some more cash and get the GTX570

the 570 could be over kill for some games at our res, but you will be able to max out anything. and more games are coming out, crysis 2!!!

Personally I'd go with a $129.99 GTX460 or $154.99 HD6850. Those cards are the best bang for your buck and fit for your resolution. I'm very happy with the power of my HD6850 and my monitor is 1680x1050 like yours. I came from a HD4850 512MB and it was a big improvement. Another one you might want to look into, if you wait, is a GTX560 as that looks pretty good if it's priced right. I think it's supposed to come out in January.
