Best card for 1680x1050? - Page 2

Under 1080p a 460 or 6850 would be plenty. Unless you have the money to spend for more, those will play games great. Keep in mind, it's not always worth it to people to buy a card to max out 3 games(Crysis, Warhead and Metro 2033). Other games unless poorly coded don't need massive amounts of power.

It also doesn't make any sense to buy for games that aren't released yet because no one knows what they are going to need to be run. By all means though, get whatever you can afford.

Thanks for all the advice. I went with a 6950, because I'll be upgrading my monitor to 1080p in a few weeks, and using my current one as a secondary display.

I gave everyone a rep because you guys helped out, but the decision wasn't any easier!

Excellent choice, the HD6900 series has some pretty cool features like the Dual-BIOS and PowerTune. The 2GB framebuffer is pretty sweet too. Though the thing about you upgrading your monitor would have been nice to know and it pretty much makes your title misleading. It's all good but we can help you a lot better when we have all the facts.

I am still currently using 1680x1050, but I guess I should have mentioned I was considering moving up with my monitor!

Nope.

I play at 1680 and I can't max a few games. Keep in mind I use the maximum AA setting I can use. In many cases the maximum AA is only 8XAA
