So...have I maxed out my Q6600 B3 @ 3114.37 MHz

Okay guys:

I have been fiddling around with this damn thing for countless hours now, trying to eek every last drop of performance out of it, and I don't think that I can go any farther with it. Perhaps you guys will have some suggestions.

This is my "secondary" machine, as noted on my profile (Executioner). It's an ASRock P45XE with a Q6600 B3 processor. I have 8GB of DDR2 PC2-6400 5-4-4-12 Mushkin Blackline 1.8v (996587) with a Corsair MaxAir Cooler blowing on it, and a Corsair H70 CPU Cooler.

Bios: P1.70
Ratio: 9
Speedstep: Disabled
Frequency: 346 MHz
PCIe Freq: 100 Mhz
Strap FSB to MCH: 333 MHz
DRAM Freq: 415 MHz (DDR2 830)
VCore: 1.48125v
DRAM Voltage: 1.79v
NB Voltage: 1.40v
VTT Voltage: 1.36v
GTLRef Voltage: .65 x VTT
PLL Voltage: 1.56v
SB Voltages: "Middle"

I tried to creep my way up to 350MHz, and couldn't get stability, no matter the voltage. I maxed my VCore (within safe limits) and reduced the frequency to 340, and then kept increasing it until I hit stability @ 346 MHz (347 was successful in IBT once, and then failed a second set of tests and 348 failed miserably).

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1545486

Core Temps:

Idle: 34/32/33/27
Load: 64/64/59/59 (after 15 runs of IBT Standard)

I have been running IBT Standard Test repeatedly, trying to get it to fail, but so far, so good in that regard. I would have preferred a lower VCore, but that is what it took to get stability at that speed. My H70 at least SEEMS to be handling the heat well.

Thoughts? Comments? Have I reached the wall with this sucker? I know that everyone is saying that the Q6600 B3 is a ***** to OC. Is this all she's got?

Don't feel too bad about it. Mine Q6600 was a G0 and was stable at 3.2Ghz only. Its vid was 1.3250 which was the worst you could get. I got it to pass OCCT at 3.4Ghz once but it blue screened shortly after while browsing the web or some other task that wasn't demanding.

You've probably hit the wall, the B3s are supposed to be worse overclockers than the G0s.
What's your stock vid?

Wow well I would of definitely of thought you would make it to at LEAST 3.2ghz because that sounds fairly low. I don't really know though because mine was a G0.

My Q6600 G0's vid is 1.325v. It was a poor overclocker, but I was able to get 3.2GHz out of it.

My settings are:
CPU Ratio: 8
Frequency: 401 MHz
Strap FSB to MCH: 333 MHz
VCore: 1.41875v (1 notch higher than 1.4v)
DRAM Voltage: 1.80v
NB Voltage: 1.38v
VTT Voltage: 1.38v
GTLRef Voltage: AUTO
PLL Voltage: 1.50v
SB Voltages: 1.10v (lowest)

I'd say. I never got mine to boot into Windows at 3.6Ghz, no matter how high the voltage was.

Wow, I took mine up to 3.8 with 1.55v
and 3.6 was stable at 1.45v

I found that there was a point where the FSB was not stable... so you just jump over it. 400mhz was stable but certain points below that were not at all...

Now I feel like I should have charged more for it when I sold it a few weeks ago...

I can run 500MHz FSB on mine just fine >.> but need about 1.44v FSB and 1.552v CPU + 8 multi, term the term up to about 1.36, PLL up 1 notch, and boom. works.
