Crossfiring Sapphire 5970 with HIS 5850 - Page 2

Did a bit of searching and ran a Metro 2033 Benchmark with MSI after burner.
Posting a pict of the results. Also, after running CSS, I notice that it now stutters either sometimes or all the time. It did this before when my WD black broke, after the reinstall, it was fine, and now after the third reinstall (2nd on my raid) it stutters again.

*Microstutter - Common
*Source games not utilizing full multi-gpu potential - Common
*Your cpu shouldn't have a problem if it's at 4ghz+.
*Not sure how much of a performance difference you would get in this xfire setup, considering it drops the 5970 to 5850 clocks

Try some other games, game benchmarks to see what performance you are getting.

Its called get two gtx480's and be done with it. The 5000 series is horrible in DX11. I think the 6000 was better but Nvidia is so far ahead.

What about 580's? Is there a big performance increase for the $$?
Honestly, I've always been an ATI guy, but not a fan boy. If one company is doing better than the other, I would easily go with them

No, unless you have a lot of money to dispose of, Then I would get the GTX 480's honestly due to your screen resolution. The GTX 480 have 1500mb video memory. The gtx 570 has 1200. THe 580s are great but the GTX 480 over-clocked is just as good.

But I see the performance issues in games such as Dirt 2 and Metro 2033.
What programs/commands are out there that I can use to monitor the cpu ussage?

Thanks!
I couldn't get Tri-fire working with Source games.

I've always used Core temp and kept it running on my second monitor but if you're using Eyefinity I'd just use the performance meter in task manager. Just alt+tab to see past usage.

I have a 5970+5870 with a overclock of 950/1200 (custom bios)
and I Love it

I play BBC2, BBC2 Vietnam, Dirt 2, CODB Ops, Medal of Honor.

And with those games that I play I can MAX all the settings at 5760x1080...

and I get 70+ FPS and I CAN PROVE IT.

How did you get it working? What might you reccomend for me?
Your help would be greatly apprecheated. I was thinking of getting another 5970, but at the moment not even one works properly.

Thank You

Those games that I play are 100% compatible with eyefinity. I recomend you to go with a 5970+5870 since 5970+5970 doesnt scale as well as a 3X CF.

Just ask me any question and I would help you.

Thanks. But would it be okay if I just went with another 5970 (local classifieds sometimes bring good luck and would pretty much be the same price)
Also, is there a deeper problem I am having? Because when I play BBC2 I can only run it at all but detail and water at full and no aa with my current setup.

and xsf, dont you only get micro stutter when in CF? I get that same choppiness with only my 5850 in.
