Salt can you use sketchup? Do you have access or have autocad?
I'm hoping so, I've heard good things, but I've never used them or seen them. I'm interested to see how they perform on my rads vs Yate Highs, but with lower wattage and lower noise for relatively the same CFM, (not sure how static pressure compares, but I assume favorably for the GTs) they should be a home run paired with my fan controller.

I've never used sketchup but I'd be interested to try it, I do have AutoCAD, I have an educational license- I'm not terribly experienced with it, but I've been looking for an excuse to spend some time messing around in 3D modeling (my experience has been at school, I'm studying naval achitecture/marine engineering, so far it's been mostly 2D plans) what did you have in mind?

All that great modding and hardware... on a Q8400+XFX board? Bit old now. CPU has to be bottle-necking the new 570 and SSD - great choices on both btw.

Please don't don't take offense or get me wrong. I had a Q6600, Q8400 then a Q9550 on the 775 socket, but that was over 3 years ago. XFX had problems with the 1366 socket and no longer makes new mobos for Core i7's.

Plans on upgrading the CPU and motherboard? You could keep your RAM if you go with a 1156 or 1155 (better) socket. I know money adds up when upgrading.... Just a thought to improve and complete that otherwise great build.

Cheers, SS

I've thought about upgrading, but frankly I enjoy the tinkering more than anything else- Not to mention that the primary use is Folding these days, and at 3.8ghz this setup is running smoothly for me. I'm thinking of going Ivy when it comes out, but we'll see where the budget is this fall.

The case is currently on it's way to FannBlade for some custom paint/metalwork, new build log will be posted tonight, stay tuned!

Sounds good. Yea, once you get the tinkering bug it's hard to stop! I still have old AMD 3500 and Intel P4 systems that I use for experiments and tests. I test all water cooling parts on those before using them on my newer systems. They take a beating and are pretty cheap if they "accidentally" get damaged .

Ivy will be interesting to see how it turns out after so much speculating. Good luck with the new modding and I eagerly await the updates!

Yes, if nothing else it will hopefully affect Sandy pricing... We'll see what I'm feeling like when that rolls around

New log just went live over here feel free to swing by and check it out!
