Hello,
I recently purchased:
Antec TruePower New TP-650 650W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE ...
Intel Core i3-540 Clarkdale 3.06GHz LGA 1156 73W Dual-Core Desktop Processor BX80616I3540
ASUS P7H55-M/CSM LGA 1156 Intel H55 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9Q-8GBRL
and I had:
2 X WD 2TB HD's
1 X WD 750GB HD
1 X Seagate 500GB HD

I put together the computer fine, CPU temps are at ~45 in the bios, plugged in all the hard drives, and began installing WHS "Vail", with the 500GB Seagate as the primary drive, installation went fine, except the HD felt pretty hot which was strange (I then put two 8mm fans facing the HD's). Everything installed fine, I installed updates, and reset a couple of times and plugged in the rest of the HD's, everything was working fine, I then installed IE9 and after restarting the installation would not load (I don't know if it's because I installed IE9 or not). So then I tried installing it again with all the hd's connected, and the 500gb hd did not show up in the installation page for WHS (Because it had the prev. WHS installation?). I then restarted and it did show up, so I tried installing on it and it gave me an installation error. I then restarted and it did not show up again, so I tried installing in the 750GB HD and it took so long just to get to 1% that I just shut down the computer.
What's going on

First of all, can you test the HDDs on another rig to confirm they work, that the SMART is ok?

To have a HDD heat a lot certainly isn't a good thing, and if you needed a fan just to keep it running, something was seriously wrong. The problem may have come anywhere from the motherboard (incompatibility), PSU (wrong voltage) or the HDD (already broken). You should test each HDD on a known good rig, monitor the PSU voltages and update the BIOS of the motherboard.

If it still doesn't work after all checked out post back and we'll see from there.

For future reference, the one problem I talked about above was fixed by setting the controller mode for the hard drives to "AHCI" mode. There were many other problems I had, but I found some workarounds for them.
Thanks,
