Watercooling 890FXA-GD70.

Thread Starter
I have the MSI 890FXA-GD70 motherboard and I have the XSPC Rasa 750 RS360 watercooling kit and I'd like to add my motherboard to the loop because I've recently learned of the motherboard burning up with overclocked Thuban CPUs. I know there isnt an easily obtainable waterblock specifically designed for the board so I was wondering if someone could recommend which waterblocks to use for the Mosfets, North Bridge and South Bridge. Thank you.

Anyone? Would The Koolance CHC-125 work for both the North and South bridge? How about The Koolance MVR-100 for Mosfet cooling?

Thats the 790fx gd70 but that should still fit on the 890fx

appears my search results got eliminated.

just redo the search and you will see that the northbridge block you selected will fit.

So a Koolance MVR-100 along with a Koolance CHC-125 for the NB and another Koolance CHC-125 for the SB should fit and cool the MSI 890FXA-GD70 just fine?

Well, I got a good deal on the blocks so I bought them. After placing the MVR-PLT140, heat plate for MVR-100, next to the stock heatsink, I realized that the heatplate will cover the NB. I have yet to receive the MVR-100 block, but this brings me back to my previous question, will the MVR-100 with the heatplate cool the mosfet and the NB? Do I have to cut the heatplate down to fit the CHC-125 on the NB? Should I return it and get the MVR-40 and a small heatplate? Im really confused now because Koolance led me to believe i could fit the MVR-100 on my mosfets and the CHC-125 on my NB but it seems I cannot.

Have you gotten the block yet? It seems to me that this motherboard's DRMOS thing will get in the way of a waterblock.

I should be getting the block this friday, I may take the DRMOS heatsink off tomorrow to see exactly how the heatplate would fit there but at first glance it looks to be too long.

I took off the default heat sink and took some pics with the heat plate near the Vreg and NB area. I also received an email from Koolance: "If the MVR-PLT140 with the MVR-100 adequately covers the northbridge (covers the die area) and can be anchored to the board, this solution may work satisfactorily." So they don't really know, in the image it shows the distance between the screw holes to be about 3.5 inches. The closest heat plate for the MVR-40 is a 86mm but its sold out everywhere I have looked. Do I need a heat plate or can I just mount the block?
