Help building a desk

Hello all,
I am looking to build a desk for myself.

I have decided that I want an L shaped desk, I even managed to make a sketchup model of what I want it to look like.

I need help with what to do for legs, and how to make the top of the desk. I would prefer to use plywood, or something else that is cheap but strong. I would eventually like to bolt monitor mounts to it also.

I used 4 3/4" pieces of solid Red Oak and sandwhiched together. Then I used my jointer to get rid of the excess glue and make it flush. You could do the same thing with plywood except it might look bad.

Pick up some nice wood for the top surface if you want hard you can go for like an oak or something I guess... reinforce it underneath w/ 3/4 inch plywood...

You can then stain/seal it and also put on rounded edge moulding on the side that will not be flush on the wall... Cut out a few holes for wires to run through the desk and then use or build support/brackets to screw/bolt it directly into the studs in the wall... (this part will require a friend tongue.gif)

So buy a thinner sheet of good looking wood, then stick that on top of a nice strong sheet of plywood?

I am looking to put actual legs on it, no bolting it into the wall.
