Dual monitors in debian

Thread Starter
Okay I've searched and tried various things and I cannot get the dual monitor setup to work where I can drag between both screens, unless I enable Xinerama, and that makes other things not work. I've played a bit with compiz and had no luck.

Anyone been able to get that to work?

I think xrandr can help. But I need to do some searching on that.

FYI-multimonitor on Team Red cards can be a PITA...on Nvidia it is easy.

EDITL Take a look at this o'er on Arch Forums, same ideas should apply I think...I think it can give you compositing, though I don't know about window dragging.

Well, if worse comes to worse I'll put my GTS 260 back in, although I really prefer ATI.

Since the driver works with xrandr, you can use this.

Are you using catalyst drivers? If you are type in

Code:
gksudo amdcccle
and set your two monitors to be a multimonitor desktop with each other. That's how I got all three of my monitors working in Mint (debian based) so I would think it could work for you.
