Help overclocking my 6850

Thread Starter
GPU: Sapphire 6850 1GB DDR5
Overclocked to 940MHz core clock, kombustor screen freezez at 950MHz @ Stock Memory Clock. (no artifacts or errors)

How can I get past 940MHz? Do I need to bump volgates?

Sorry for beeing such a lazy ass

Yeah bump some voltage's. anything beyond say 900MHZ is a bit of a heavy oc for a vanilla card 6850.

Try 1.25 VDDC.

try getting afterburner beta 5. You can adjust the voltage.

Tnx! Downloaded the beta 5 now, but the core voltage is still locked. Is there anything I need to change in a txt or cfg file?

Hi, pump your voltage.
AFAIK the 6850 can go to 1.3V and 1GHz on the core. However at that clock it wont pass many tests. This was shown in many reviews, just google 6850 reviews.
For me my 6850 only reached 930Mhz on the core with 1.2V. Anyway, run the kombustor longer, like 10mins as I doubt that 940mhz on stock volt is stable.
one more thing, what's your GPU temp? If it reaches 90C then its unstable, 80+ zone is still ok. Though many will tell you the core is designed to within 100+ C lol.

Why don't you overclock the memory clock instead before raising the voltage?

try using Trixx if you dont mind, it may not be as comprehensive as after burner but it does what it should, and its from sapphire so it should unlock your core voltage by default
