Need help choosing 3 new screens!

Thread Starter
Hi guys,

I am about to embark on a new venture as I am having trouble finding any more Samsung SM2493's for sale...

I want to get a triple screen set up going. I am looking for 23/24" 1080p or 1200p screens with a budget of £200 per screen.

I would like LED back-lighted screens as well.

Whats good at the moment?

Are you looking for really good image quality? Or just the usual Samsung/Asus dribble?

Whatever I can get for £200 a screen!

I have been very happy with the two Samsung's I have owned, but I would love a few used 24" ultrasharps.

They look awesome with 3 of them together. Also they're in your price range and you can get free delivery on that website I linked.

LED backlighting is more uniform than CCFL, and works better if you like to keep dynamic contrast enabled (actual contrast is the same though).

But if you're looking at REAL monitors, not cheap TN crap, RGBLED = CCFL > LED. RGBLED and CCFL are pretty much just as good as each other (differences in uniformity and gamut are minimal), but regular white LEDs don't provide the same gamut that the other two can.

Either way, take your pick:

U2311h for £219
U2211h for £199

One of these is 23", the other is 21", otherwise they're identical. They are eIPS panels. Not exactly the best IPS screens out there, but still MUCH better than any TN panel you can get.

I also suggest getting a colorimeter to calibrate them with. But that applies to any three monitors you buy, not just these

In all honesty, there are only two advantages of a LED monitor over a LCD monitor. Minor energy efficiency improvements and more slender frame. Other than that, you'll get equally or better picture quality from a good LCD at least until OLED/QLED/Laser displays are more economical.

Color accuracy doesn't depend on the backlight, but the gamut does. And once you want to go outside sRGB white LEDs fail.

Why do you consider LED backlighting more uniform? I would actually argue the complete opposite as LEDs have both hot spots and LED displays are brighter around the edges than in the middle.
