Neep help when at 1280x1024 monitor locked at 60hz refresh rate

Thread Starter
Title says it all, when I change my monitor to 1280x1024 it will only allow me to use 60hz/59hz, I would like to use it at 75hz especially since its a crt it strains my eyes at 60hz. The name of the monitor is "MAG 770AG", I tried the most recent nvidia drivers and old drivers it still won't let me go to 75hz. I remember one time it let me use it at that resolution/refresh rate combo but now its not working anyone know whats wrong? Thanks, will rep if anyone figures out whats wrong!

Oh and ignore my monitor I have in my listed specs I'm using a crt now, and my video card is 8800gtx.

I believe the way to solve it isn't your video card settings/ driver, but your monitor's drive inside windows, or windows config files.
first look in the monitor's brand website for driver (also, check for the model's specifications if it can really support that refresh rate at such resolution)...

btw, my crt 17" monitor could support that resolution at only 60hz, while 1024x768 could do up to 100 or 75hz...

it should do it fine

with the latest nvidia driver, start the nivida control panel
change resolution
if refresh rate does not show 72-75+ you can manually add them
hit customize
create custom resolution
set h, w, hz (change to 72 or 75), color depth (32)
and hit test, it will add it if successful
