which drivers for 6870 crossfire

Thread Starter
hello ladies and gents...

does amd have some new drivers coming soon for these cards? or are the 10.12 drivers (posted on 12-13-10) that are on amd's website the ones we were waiting for?

the reason i ask, is because i am running 2 x 6870's in xfire, and in all games i am getting higher fps (according to fraps) with crossfire disabled.

if there are new drivers coming soon, i am going to just wait for those drivers before i start running tests and all that jazz to figure out what is wrong with my current setup.

the way it is now, im better off just selling the extra card because all of my games run better with xfire disabled.

Did you install crossfire profiles? If not install them because that could be your issue. Also Im using 10.12 and Im having no problems at all. Please go to USERCP at the top of your page and fill out the System info so we know what you have, it will also help us help you better.

Heres the page with the profiles: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloa...-profiles.aspx

I'm personally using 10.10 with zero issues, but you should give 10.12 a try and see how it preforms/whether you experience and problems.

Also like "nagle3092" mentioned above, make sure you install the Crossfire profiles.

of course you get almost the same result when crossfire enabled or disabled. your cpu at stock SERIOUSLY bottlenecks those cards and there'll always be a bottleneck even if you overclock it to 4.0Ghz because Ph2 CPU is weak and your motherboard does maximum 8x/8x crossfire. You could see up to 100% scaling if you've had x58 mobo and overclocked i7.

someone at ocn did the testing. i can't remember the thread title now but he was telling that he tested two 6870s on his pc (overclocked 1055t) then on his friend's pc with i5 760. the difference was like day and night. and that was i5...

SB drivers are the South Bridge drivers, aka the chipset drivers.

8x/8x isnt going to make any difference that would be noticeable but the CPU is bottlenecking those cards badly, my cards are still bottleneck with a 4.0 oc and a 2772 northbridge.

Chances are if your not sure about if its installed or not it probably isnt. But you could look in the device manager and see if theres any ! then that will tell you something is missing a driver. Even if it doesnt though it could mean it has a generic driver so it would be good to find out what you have (hardware) and find all the drivers for that said hardware and install them.
