Overclocking i7 and Turbo-Boosting - Page 2

1.35 doesn't sound too bad. It all depends on the chip. Not every chip needs the same amount of voltage to get at certain frequencies. Some can hit 4 ghz with less than 1.3 some need at least 1.4 it's all dependent on the chip. Congrats on hitting 4.0

actually i had to increase it to 1.37v cos it kept getting BSOD's when ever it was strained too much, its stable now

LLC = LoadLine Calibration?
its on auto... should it turn it off and reduce CPU voltage?

By turning it on, you can often get away with using less voltage (as set in bios). When all the cores load up, it'll automatically give a boost in cpu voltage.

For example:

vCore -

In bios = 1.283
In CPUz idle = 1.280
In CPUz 100% load = 1.325

Assuming the scenario above is stable, you COULD disable LLC and raise the Voltage to maintain 1.325 at full load.

It would look like this...

vCore
In Bios = 1.375
In CPUz idle = 1.365
In CPUz 100% load = 1.325

When you say 1.37v, is that in Bios? Because that means nothing, we need to know the Vcore under 100% load in CPUz, that is what we all report in our Sigs. Im assuming you have LLC off, meaning it will be in the 1.30v area which is fine.

Also this:
LLC OFF vCore
In Bios = 1.375
In CPUz idle = 1.365
In CPUz 100% load = 1.325

Is more stable/safer/better than:
LLC ON vCore -
In bios = 1.283
In CPUz idle = 1.280
In CPUz 100% load = 1.325

But same stability as; but more safe than:
LLC ON vCore -
In bios = 1.32
In CPUz idle = 1.325
In CPUz 100% load = 1.345

Im not going to explain because itll take far too long.
