Probably buying tomorrow imput please

I know these arn't the best but will serve my purpose. Movies and TV no PS3 or anything. Replacing a 8 yr. old Panasonic 46" projection HD 480p. paid $1400 when these things first came out. LOL Honestly their is nothing wrong with it just got the bug to buy a new one.

I really like the look of the Plasma screen but it's only 760 and 60hz. The Vizio I have read some people having them die after warrenty runs out. I will buy extended warrenty.

I guess basicly I'm looking for bang for the buck tv.

Step one: Don't get a plasma.

They drink electricity and have crap lifespans. They wear out exceedingly fast. Get an LCD or LED, if you can afford one.

Get a 120Hz TV. This is better than a 60Hz, though I myself couldn't tell you why.

I would have suggested the 52" model I have, but it's double the price you're looking at...

OK I just did a search and they say don't have the problem with lifespan anymore. I have heard the same about 120 hz. But I was looking at 2 Sony's 120 and 60 side by side and couldn't tell the difference.

Modern Plasmas are a lot better than earlier models, but I would go with that 120Hz, 1080p TV. Why anyone would get a 720p TV today is beyond me.

I find that comment absolutely absurd. I may not know the ins and outs of plasmas but considering I just purchased 2 50" I know enough. Most modern plasmas have a half like of 100k hours. That means in 100k hours the plasma will be half as bright as it was when you bought it. With proper calibration and break in procedures there is no reason why a modern plasma couldn't last 10-20 years based on how much you use it. Now if you want a TV that you are going to have a lot of static images on for example security systems or static icons from an OS then no don't get a plasma but for high quality 1080p 50" for $600 get it.

Please do a little research before throwning out random misplaced comments

For anyone else who wants more info here's a vid

Plasma tvs have been getting a lot better.Something to think about is one of plasma weak point's which is why I wouldn't buy one is they are not near as good in a well lighted room. They do use more electricity, the new led-lcd tv's are typically 4 time's more efficient than the standard energy star rating. Also plasma tvs typically weight 20 lbs more than same size in led-lcd.However the bang for buck, your looking pretty good with your choice's.

I have a 50" Plasma (Samsung 1080p) and I LOVE it. You will get reflection and glare off of them, but if you have a dark room or face it away from windows you won't have problems. To me, the color and contrast on a plasma always looked so much deeper than an LCD.

Dark room - I'd go plasma
Bright room with lots of windows - LCD
I would definitely go 1080p no matter what. You will not regret it in the long run. 120hz is nice, but I don't particularly care for it. I always thought that it made things look a bit weird, especially BLU-RAYs.

That is just my opinion though.

I have a panasonic 42" 1080p plasma that i have had for almost 4 years.

We use it exclusively in our living room so it gets alot of kid use, tons of video game use and with a 3 year old it got turned on alot and left with static images for extended periods of time.

I've never had a single issue with it and it still looks and performs fantastic.

Lets be honest.. who buys a tv thinking they are going to keep it for 20 years with todays technology?

Rep for the help. I bought the VIZIO last night and am loving it. Not quite as nice as the Samsung. It replaced a 8 yr old Panasonic 480p rear projection. So what a huge difference.
