I think i need more power.

Well everyone has helped me so far in trying to fix my hard locking problems.
Today i have narrowed it down to the psu. im running a ultra 500 now with very demanding card (gts 250), 2 hdds, 2 cd rom drives, neons, and water cooling. I keep experiencing these problems whenever doing demanding tasks. Some say my nb/sb is getting to hot, but with all my temps <40c throughout 90% of the time i'd say its the loss of power.

What do you think?

Are you over clocked? I didn't see that in your sig or in the post. If you are, revert to stock and stress test. Is it possible to remove the CDroms, neons and anything you really don't need minus the WC setup? Then stress test. Ultra makes a very nice PSU and I would think that 500 watts would sustain that rig pretty well. Do you have access to a higher wattage psu at like a friends house to test?

GTx 250 is a very weak gpu... 500 watts should be plenty for what you have...

If it is the psu.. It must just be going bad.

What happens when it crashes? Bluescreen? Auto-Restart? When you say hard lock do you mean it freezes on one screen and you have to force a restart?

I really doubt that you don't have enough for one. Second a insufficient psu would cause your pc to shut down under stress, or not even power up if it is severely underpowered.

Also a 1200watt is severely overkill for your rig, it would be a complete waste of money. 850 watts is more then enough for even most enthusiast rigs. Honestly get yourself a 750watt, more then enough if you did decide to upgrade to a fermi or a dual gpu card.

Run Memtest It will let you know if a stick of ram is failing. If that passes then I don't think it's a software problem. I would reset the bios to stock settings and see if that helps. It's kinda looking like a memory problem from what it sounds like.

Also you will learn very quickly that you can never have TOO much of anything here
