Question about WC

Thread Starter
From my A+ book,

"Many liquid-cooling systems have sensors that allow them to shot the system down when they detect even a minute leak in the pathway for the liquid."

What part does this, how do I find them or how do I know the device has it, etc.?

Thanks.

Koolance uses a temp sensor in the loop that can be configured to shut the system down at a certain temp. A flow meter can be used in the same fashion. flow rate drops below a certain level and shut down...

google something like water cooling fail safe or some variation of that.

It really doesn't matter too much. Why? Because once something in the WC system fails (say, the pump) the CPU will start to heat up. Instead of trying to monitor the cooling system itself, monitor the CPU temp. If it climbs above a certain threshold initiate a shut down on the computer.

Shouldn't the CPU shut itself down anyway?

In the BIOS you set a shutdown temp, mine is at 85*C and I have only tripped it once (poorly seated cooler+high ambient+high OC+LINX)

I'm thinking of leaking onto components more than I am about overheating.

The only reasons you'd have a coolant leak is if you didn't leak test, or if the loop was breached/damaged in a case move or some such. Once the loop is closed, and passes a 24hr leak test, there shouldn't be any coolant leakage.

Leak test first. jump start your psu, that avoids having to power on the system.
