New build not even posting(Move if needed)

Thread Starter
I'd like to start by saying I do not know if this is in the right section. The last part I added to the build was an XFX 6970 so I figured I'd put it here. I could not find a trouble shooting section of the forums but if such a place exists please feel free to move this there.

So, you may have figured out by now that my newly built computer isn't working. In fact I'm pretty sure it's not even posting. The system is my sig rig.

When turned on with the power button a fan starts spinning very loudly then calms down after a second to normal levels. Then nothing happens. Nothing.

All ideas and questions are welcome I will try to answer any and all questions regarding troubleshooting my pc.

Thanks in advance for all of your support,
Snoopy

If your not even posting make sure all the mobo connections are seated properly. 24 pin for the mobo, and cpu power. Also make sure the cpu heatsink fan is connected.

this happened to my most recent build.

a cmos clear worked for the first post, but then my the mobo completely shorted at the 8pin cpu, from what i narrowed it down to.
but it may be different for you. cmos clear saves lives.

Much like the other guy said, make sure your psu 6+8 pin's are connected to your video card the 20/24 pin on your motheboard.

On a serious note, The last two PC's I have built back to back, wouldn't post the first time with all the memory in, I had to put 1 stick in for the first post and only 1. May not help you but its just a thought, I was having the exact same symptoms as you.

Something else you could try Make sure if your are using a single video card its plugged into the right pci-e slot. My asus board requires it to be in a certain slot if i'm just using 1 card, and the filler in the other.

Hope this helps bud, Post back l8r
