2.1 Computer Speaker for ~$50

Thread Starter
I'm in need for some computer speakers because my laptops sound is on the weaker side. I am not looking for 5.1, I just want a pair of semi-decent 2.1 speakers that would be connected to my laptop.

What I will use the speakers for:
-Music (mainly rap-hip/hop, rock)
-Gaming (World of Warcraft, CS:S, BC2, etc)
-Watching netflix
-I want good mids and good/accurate bass for movies.

What I won't be doing:
-Blasting the speakers very loud, living in a small apartment and can't blast them.
-Using them 24/7 (only when my laptop is on my desk)

Looking to spend around $50 but don't really know what to look for.
I browsed newegg and amazon for speakers and prices, I have a general
idea of what to look for and want your guys input.

Let me know guys,

Thanks

Okay I hear what you are saying but a couple of questions.

1. Is that your real budget or are you willing to spend more for something nice?
2. Are headphones out of the question?
3. Are you opposed to buying used?

Here are some suggestions:

If you are/can bump your budget you can get a nice pair of monitors for around 100-150.

If you are not against headphones you may get better sound quality for your budget. (A headphone expert chime in here please.)

If you are not against used search the trader section here. I know there are some nice AV40's for 110. I have some on there as well but I believe they would be out of your realm for 225.

Either way I'm sure we can get you something you will be happy with.

Hey thanks for your reply.

1. It's my real budget, I really don't want to spend a whole lot more (else I would have gone the 5.1 route) I might fluctuate by $20 but that's all I want to spend on the speakers.
2. I already have headphones but my girlfriend gets pissed when I use them and ignore her, she also likes to scare the ***** out of me and sneak up behind me when I wear them lol.
3. I wouldn't mind buying used if they were in excellent condition (I have had bad luck with speakers in the past)

I really am not looking for the high-end speakers just something that would acceptable to listen to music and play games on. I am in way a audiophile and if I want to enjoy the best I listen to my home entertainment system. Just would be nice to have a pair of decent speakers that I could enjoy listening, playing games and watching netflix on. Those are really my only requirements.

Thank you for your suggestions tho, I will check out the for sale section.

These were the ones I like the most and was interested in before posting this thread, does anyone actually have these speakers and could vouch for how good the audio quality is?

If I were to buy cheap computer speakers, I'd lean toward Creative than Logicrap and Altec.

Looks like crap if you ask me. I'd suggest you not get them.
