I then switched to a linear Panasonic that had an rpm-regulated motor w/lots of torque. When using shaving cream, it gave me the closest shave I have ever experienced, by far. So close, unfortunately, that I developed frequent ingrown hairs. Furthermore, it was completely useless for dry shaving because, without water to cool the motor, the interior of the razor would get so hot that the collected trimmings would start to smolder. Nothing like the residual smell of burning hair to make the ladies get a little closer.

Now I'm back to cheap schtick disposable cartridges. Maybe I should learn to shave properly so I can get that Panasonic-close shave for special occasions, but I'm too lazy.

That's why you use a beard trimmer first, then electric razor.
