used 480 or new 570?? - Page 4

The 480 and 570 perform almost exactly the same as they trade blows depending on the game and application. The GTX 480 does run hotter and utilizes 50w more per card then does the GTX 570. If more heat, power draw, and noise does not bother you then they are a flush. My 570 is cooler and quieter then the 470 that I had previously.

I would purchase the GTX 570 if the 570 did not cost more then $60 more then the 480. If you could get a 480 for less then that, I would jump on it in a heartbeat!

Im just trying to prove my point that gf100 is no joke. And yeah ts is on water that's why I brought it up.
The GTX 480 is definitely no Joke! It is a Kickass card along with the 570!

get the 480 if it's significantly cheaper than the 570. If the price difference is small, get the 570, it's cooler, uses less power and goes just as fast.

or, should i just keep the 5870? this one is pretty good. the core does 1ghz without sweating.

but then i will have to find somewhere else to spend/waste some money. the itch is killing me......

570 would be the best upgrade for your system

the main reason i spent extra on a new 570 vs a used 480 is because of heat/noise

but then again, ive seen 480's go for 230-250 these days... hard to beat at that price... but if it's like 300 vs 350, i'd spend the 50 extra for 570

true... but i haven't had a ATI for ages.... (my last ATI was a Radeon 9600 XT 256mb)

i just know that a 480/570 would be a good match for your system

Plus if you do alot of video editing like i do....

you get CUDA.. which is really good for Video encoding

The 480 uses more power then a 580, idle and load.
Lol, the 570 actually uses less power then a 470 as well.

I'll disregard the rest of your post as you're clueless.

Don't worry about it man, he acts like GF100's wattage is like a hairdryer compared to GF110's light bulb. I think it's the ATI fanboy in him clinging to low wattage and low heat.
