Why does my Computer hate me?

Thread Starter
I really don't like this Idea but I think somethings broken in my computer, infact I'm almost certain.

Here are the Symptoms:
1. often failing to boot properly with bios post error 26 (or 2b?) which according to the manual is "Init onboard clock generator and sensor" (or "initialize video'). Honestly this happens way to often just today I've spent upwards of 3 hours trying to get into windows after putting in a new cpu, sound card, bios. It's not a recent error, I've had this happen many times before today.
2. graphics cards not working (sometimes the 1st one will work but not the 2nd or the 2nd will work but not the 1st) I usually solve this by taking them outta the pcie slot for about a minute or 2 before trying to boot the system again.

Honestly I really don't want to take my pc into a repair place if possible with staff away for holidays and stuff. I think it's my motherboard that's broken/breaking but would appreciate some extra input.

If you've tried other hardware but it's still giving you problems (which sounds exactly like what's happening), I'd say your motherboard in dying. Maybe you can snag a cheap replacement to test this problem.

well I've swaped from a dying i7 920 to a 950 today. I don't really wanna take my gpus out (water cooling is a pain to set right again) but the fact they alternate between working and not means I think they're sweet. my ram seems sweet so I agree that the motherboard seems the culprit. still wanna see if anyone says anything else though.

I overclocked for a bit with my previous cpu, but stoped cause it's stability seemed to be deteriorating. I had changed a few motherboard settings (mostly voltage related) with the overclock but I've left them at the defaults when I went back to stock.

if your cpu deteriorating, then your mobo is to. i would check if all your memory, gpu, and psu is at the time overclock same time as the mobo because if it is. then your next mobo will have problem.
