Tough HX620?

Thread Starter
When I turn on the switch on the wall follow by the switch on the PSU, it gives one solid poping sound. I give the PSU a sniff, smell as usual. No flavour added. This poping sound happen twice already and my PSU still going strong. Any idea?

How loud is the poping sound?

Are you sure it's not the "click" of the switch being thrown?

I don't trust the 620HX, I had 2 bad ones with the 3rd and 4th rma also being bad, but someone else owned them by then.
They ended up sending him a 650HX.

Could be a capacitor going. Though I don't see why they'd blow at startup, the inrush current only affects the primary and that's mostly filtered.

The loundness of the sound will make ones want to stay away. Just like feeing a 110V PSU with 230V AC. I do not think is the sound of the switch because the switch will not make such loud poping sound. I repeat the process again and no more poping sound. After a few day, it pop for me again. By the way, my PSU is 3 years old =D

Well I have the HX620W and didn't have any problems for 3 years now!! Also what kind of a popping sound is it? Is just a pop or does it also have another sound with that pop. I d suggest you consider replacing it if it pops again might even damage your hardware!
