NEW xmas build, would love some input =) - Page 4

Better memory is manditory for this build......

This would fit the bill

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=WB200UX6G8&title=Super-Talent-Chrome-Series-DDR3-2000-6GB-3x2GB-CL8-Triple-Channel-Memory-Kit

As far as an SSD goes

grab a 60 Gig Vertex 2 for a boot drive then some WD blacks for Data

PS an 850 of high quality would be fine here

R3E is arguably the best board out there ATM ....

The 2nd best board out there is this, and at this price it is a no brainer as it will take you through, air, water, phase, Dice & Ln2 and maximize your results

An EVGA has support and rebate program second to none IMO

1) PSU is super overkill, unless you plan on tri/quad SLI.
2) You don't need the R3E for that. The R3E isn't worthwhile unless you're tri/quad SLI. The R3F is an incredible board, slightly cheaper, and also newer. Unless you really want the bluetooth thing or something.
3) Don't listen to anyone who is trying to tell you that an SSD isn't worth it. They're wrong. SSDs are very much worth it, and belong in every high-end system. Speed is NOT the only HUGE advantage that comes along with SSD.
4) Get faster RAM. 1600 is a good frequency, but without even looking up that memory I can already tell it's slower. (There's a 'CL9' in the model number) Spend a few extra bucks and get a kit with tighter timings, something around the 6-7 range.
5) Wait for Sandy Bridge. By "wait," I mean, "see what happens to the 950 prices after SB is released." If you need the enthusiast line (like me, so I understand that feeling) then wait for Ivy Bridge .

You can hold the applause, I know, I know.
yeah you pretty much have ended it, thanks a bunch i will probably wait for the newer tech.....but it's hard because i REALLY wanna build a PC. but another plus in waiting a year is that SSD's will become more price viable. and yes i do want the bluetooth feature on the R3E perhaps in a year the R4E will exist, i can only hope! frothing at the thought!
