X58A-UD3R rev2 / i7 950 stable @4.0 but i want dvid

Hi All!

REad the guides took some advice from Gigabyte forums http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...arting-oc.html and i am @ 4.00 quite stable (did an 1 hour occt test..idle 37 load 72)...

Validator: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1546646

llc->level1
power functions disabled
NOTES: i put my vcore to 1.312 (cpuz shows 1.28 ..due to vdroop?)

I want to use dynamic vcore in order for the machine to relax when CPU is not loaded...My problems:

I put vcore normal (1.15625) and i cant get stable even with Dynamic +0.17500...

1.15 + 0.17 = 1.33 results in 1.31 in CPUz and OCCT stops with TOO HOT CORES (82) ...So i stopped it and went back to fixed vcore (1.312)...

Questions about factors that create this situation.

What llc should i have with dynamic vid? (normal i have it level1)
Turbo boost?

When testing dvid i put balanced windows power mode and in bios everything enabled in BIOS except c1e...

What is your opinion? Should i go for dvid or stay stable at 1.312 21x191.

First, by default OCCT stops if one of your core temperature hit 80 degrees. Thats the message you got from OCCT and it doesnt mean your unstable. Go into OCCT options and change the max CPU temps to 90.

Second, Turn down a the dvid offset a little bit (around 0.14) so you end up with the same vcore under load like when not using dvid (you said around 1.28 in CPUz)

Then test. if not stable, increase dvid by one or two notch, re-test.

I'm using dvid in my sig rig, and I like it.

I'd recommend you turn off LLC completely if you want to go with a dynamic VID.

Might be worth a try but I'm having success with LLC level 2 and a DVID.

i woudl turn LLC off or use Level2 as your voltages aren't high, the benefit to LLC off is lower temps. i wouldn't bother with DVID its worthless and slow. DVID is being augmented with SVID(serial vid) come VRD12, and well serial VID is just much better.

Thanks Guys!

I am not having success with dvid as i think it would go more than i am using when in fixed vcore...

So i am staying with my current setup and if this is stable i am more than happy...
