laptop not charging

Thread Starter
Hi,

My friends have an acer aspire 5536. the laptop went flat and their kids accidentally plugged in the wrong charger, now we cant get the battery to charge.

We grabbed a battery from another friend with the same laptop, and the thing powers up, but when we plug the charger in, the light on the supply unit goes off, and the laptop wont charge.

Anyone have any ideas? Seams to me that something has fried...

seems like it. This happened to me before with one of my laptops. Charger just simply refused to power.

There's a lot of universal chargers out there that im pretty sure is compatible with your friends acer.

Similar thing happened to me with my Dell. In my situation the laptop was hooked into a power inverter in the car and, my guess, is that the power was "dirty" and destroyed the battery. I'm not an electrician so I can't say but I don't use that power inverter any more!

I haven't tried another battery, or another power cord, but my guess is that my battery went bad (possibly destroyed a cell or something).
