Click to reveal the text on the certain area's.

Power:
1000W is more then enough, when I built my first pc (see specs below in sig) I got a hefty PSU because I knew I was gonna get more cards. I'm thinking about getting another 5970 and I overclock a good bit so that chews up more power.

Peak power of a Tri-SLi 480 system is just above 1000W with an overclocked CPU (link) so it should be fine, that's at stress too, most games wouldn't push it that hard.

I would just stick with the PSU that comes with it, that's enough for even 3 470's.

Cooling:
922 has good cooling, should be enough for your needs, and then you're adding fans, which is a good move.

You could get some better 120's to put on that Liquid Cooler (I assume it uses 120mm fans, I have no idea about the cooler, nothing is really specified.). Beyond that, everything should be nice and cool (lol, apart from the 470's ;P)

Noise:
Those 470's are loud, like LOUD. With two of them going you should put the case away from you a bit or under your table, if it's close to your head get yourself some good headphones with sound isolation

There! Have fun!

This is overkill for what your making for. Also I would recommend waiting till early jan. to get the new sandy bridge processor( i5 2600k or i7 2600k /w a 1155 socket Mobo). A 1000 watt psu is way too much. I would recommend a 850 watt 80 plus certified psu. I would also not go watter cooling but get air cooling. I recommend the noctua d14. Go for the gtx 570 or a gtx 560 ( when it comes out)

Can you wait less than a month? That motherboard/CPU combo is literally days away from becoming obsolete.

dont u mean it wont be the newest version? just cuz sandy bridge is on its way its not necessarily obsolete....would run great for a few years before being obsolete usage wise.

op: wait for sandy bridge and then see what the pricing is and what ur budget is then. def worth the wait.

Lol yea I have just 1 GTX 460 now and its far from quiet lol. I am glad you guys all have said the same thing about being way overkill on the PSU lol. I was so worried about being under power that I just kind of figured since the gtx 470 is recommended to use a 550W psu? I think. That 1000 would be the magic number lol.

I was afraid of overclocking at first too, I first experimented with my old alien ware WHICH FREAKED ME THE **** OUT when I raised it like 0.1ghz started crashing and stuff, basically cause my temps were already 60c idle (****ing alien ware) lol and it got too hot.

There's guides around this site that I read, for my specific processor on overclocking that helped a lot.
It's basically if you get an unlocked processor just raise the multiplier a few times, raise the voltage a bit to keep up with the multiplier, and keep it cool (most important part). It's really hard to ruin anything too when overclocking, the worse that can happen (rarely happens) is your system completely locks up, which you would just have to reset cmos manually on the mobo to fix it.

And for FFXIV, I can run it at 3.5GHz 3Core phenom, 260gtx 1680x1050 fine stays between 30-40 fps (4xAA, drawing quality 9, shadow standard) everything else default.
I think with the machine your getting you'll be able to run that new mmorpg coming out in 2015+ fine lol

Lol must be nasty bottle necking on my *CPU* that really makes ffxiv suck. I have a gtx 460 now and it runs smooth but I have to dumb things down and cant play at high settings. Then again my CPU is a q8200 @ 2.33ghz lol...... Still rockin my dell studio 540 desktop from years ago. So this build will be my first real computer in general.

yeah seems like a solid rig for your first gaming pc!! nice one, i would personally swap the 470's for 570's but the 470 is still a wicked card, but for 60-70 bucks more you get similiar if not better performance than a 480 let us kno how the build goes n throw up some pics
