No. If you had it would have made things easier - I'm in the UK.

Where exactly are you? This do?

What is this? Is this SAS or Mini SAS ports? The port look small, and the cable converters on the picture confuse me.

That card (and most others) use SFF-8086 MiniSAS cables. They are more common than the SFF-8484 cables on the older Dell and HP cards that you posted the picture of earlier.

just noticed this for less than $20 shipped to Europe. Unlikely to get cheaper than that...

This is the Dell you suggested that is out of the box compatible with what i want right? I as well think it cant get any better than that!

EDIT: Oh no, i can see from here that it is a PCIe x8 card, and my unused PCIe slot works at x4. Will this be a problem for my system?

I believe the SAS 5/iR (unlike the PERCs) can do jbod, but you would be well advised to double check. I haven't used one personally.

If your slot is open ended or x8 or higher physically then the card will work.

The above it's justnot a PERC model? I thought all of those were PERC.
If it doesnt to jbod, do i nesecarily have to do RAID? So if i have the 4 disks they can only be used in RAID modes, and not be seen individually?

Oh, and BTW my PCIe slot is x16 it just operates on x4 speed, so it hsould work, but not full-speed, is what i'm getting.

A quick Google does seem to confirm that if you attach disks to the SAS 5/iR they will show up as single drives. Note that the PERCs won't do this - they will only allow drives in RAID (although you can do single drive RAID0 - but that has disadvantages). You don't want a PERC for this. You also don't want to have to go the RAID route, since I believe the SAS cards are limited to 2 different arrays only, so you couldn't do 4 single drive RAID0 arrays anyway.

Basically - I think that card is ideal for what you have said you want (4 single drives). The price is certainly right too, but the card does have limitations. However it is much better and less limited than anything else you could buy for the price.

For some reason the seller says it support sup to 2 single drives. There's also a link in the listing of a forum that mentions there's a chance to use up to 4 or 8 drives by covering one pin. What's the meaning of this?

On the listing there's this link where this guy says how to cover some pins in order for more than 2 drives to be used. But why is this nesecary and cant there be more than 2 drives by default? I find this weird.
