Over the years it has become the norm for graphics cards manufacturers NVIDIA and AMD to release updates to their drivers in shorter and shorter intervals, with the norm quickly becoming once a month. In this new series of driver analysis articles we will present you a performance summary of new Catalyst and GeForce driver releases that show the immediate improvements going from one version to another, but also the long term performance development that the vendors have achieved.

Looking at those benchies, it does appear they have been improving over time. Although I'll keep my 10.4 because the only bench I'm interested in is BFBC2.

still dont understand why bc2 took a leap backwards and they still havent fixed it.

I'm still using 10.9. I heard bad things about 10.10 and 11.

If i keep my overclock when i'm viewing a flash video, the display driver stops responding. Even though it's 100% stable in every game. I wish they'd fix this.

That happens on stock clocks as well, as it happened to me. There is a simple fix for it, just disable hardware acceleration in the flash player settings. That fixed it for me.

I really dislike 10.12 although it is still in Beta. 10.12a was a huge improvement. for 6000's stick with 10.10e. I know this is a poor bench but in Kombuster I hit 165fps max settings on 10.10e, 10.12 was 84fps max, 10.12a was 140 max. I saw the exact same thing happen in Heaven as well. 10.10e and 10.12a will score between 900-950 in heaven(with OC) 10.12 would get around 600. Fallout NV, BC2, Mafia II, all saw huge drops as well when I went to 10.12 but went back up to close to what they were with 10.12a. The fact that my 6870 is still being held back by bad drivers bothers me but its nice because I still get killer fps with bad drivers I cant wait til they are fully developed.

Hi All,
Went to 10.12 and had issues for the first time. So I went back to 10.11 and all is good again. I think that I qwould rather have less frequent releases and better drivers than what both are doing now. Seems to me that if Nvidea and AMD would develop their drivers at the same level as their GPUs then we would all have a better product.

Ok i think i'm about to embarrass myself but hey...

Does the driver version have anything to do with the month and year that it's released? Or is it just an incredible coincidence that it's 12/10 and we're on 10.12?

All ATI/AMD drivers are based on the month/year of release. Have been for years.
