Small for factor GPU'S

Thread Starter
Ok so i am going to uprgrade to a mATX case i wont in a tournament.

I had a gtx260 OCed but its to big for the case (10.5")

I have a silverstone SG01 case

It can handle up to a 9.5" GPU.

I plan on making this a bigish type of upgrade.

Looking at a Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition + free mobo = $180

About 4g of DDR3 = $60

Power Supply = $40 ( anyone know what size i would need for a GTX 460 ish type card)

The GPU......(ughhh)= i saw on a maximum pc post about a Gigabyte N460OC 1gb version. Didnt know if anyone had it and could comment on it. Im looking for somthing with good airflow ( the N460OC has dual fans). But any input would be good.

Like i said i need help on the GPU mainly, maybe a processor alternative, and how much power i would need.

Processor Combo link= http://www.microcenter.com/specials/...ndlePROMO.html

P.S if you recromend a card can you please post the length(etc. 9.5" max)

not really worried about spelling

shouldnt have any problem with the gigabyte 460, runs pretty cool from reviews and users who has them on ocn.

i assume ur going to need a small psu, a good small psu about 400-450w from corsair, antec, season would be great.

seasonic has a 450w which is passive cooled. but its abit pricey.

I can't comment on the GTX 460 model you are looking at but I have two Gainward GTX460 1GB GS and they have no problems with heat. Running 30-40oc idle and 55oC-65oC while folding.

The standard GTX 460 is 21 cm/8.25" long. However, the ones from Gainward are even shorter.

The reference GTX 470 is also 9.5" I believe, as are the Radeon HD 6850/6870 (though you should note the plastic shroud on the Radeons extends a few mm from the front).
