My Desk Pretty Cheap/Easy but Effective

So like many of us I needed a desk for all my stuff.. Two 24" monitors, printer, desk lamp, some work space, random other crap.

I was at the blue Swedish super store (Ikea) and decided to hack together something that would work and was pretty cheap and very easy to build.

So what I ended up doing was buy two variant length Vika Amon table tops. I Kept the width the same (I did not have to). I kept the widths the same to have a consistent look. Then I picked up 8 legs which I chose Vika Curry style. I have attached the legs to the tables as shown in the picture.

The green discs are just the brackets that the legs screw into but I did not add the legs. Just used them as supports.

As you can see I attached the three leg brackets in a row bridging/attaching the two independent table tops together. I only used the back leg as a real leg and left the other two brackets as just that joining brackets.

All in all probably cost like ~70-90 bucks which is kinda steep in some sense but it is a basic flat table with a lot of real estate. Its really sturdy and the joint that I made holds up perfectly. I wouldn't say you could sit on the joint but maybe you could. The table stays perfectly flat with no bowing or bending either.

As for storage I have two of those mini plastic drawer type things from Sterilite and pretty much a bunch of space for whatever else I need.

I bought a massive table from them for about the same price. I looked all over for a desk but they were cheap thin stuff like youd see at office max. The desk i have is very sturdy, looks sleek, and held up like new for two years at least now. Ill have pics up when i do my build thread in a week or two.
