PC Freezes up playing BC2

Thread Starter
My PC never crashes except for when playing BC2,
I can play for a while, but after maybe 10-60 minutes everything freezes up, and the sounds starts repeating itself. (imagine It's about to say Objecti... and it froze and kept repeating ectiectiectiectiecti but faster like iiiiiiiiiiii if you know what I mean..)

I'm wondering if this is a Issue with CPU, Graphics, or both? OR something entirely different?

Gonna go play BC2 now.. I'll check back on this thread after the next crash :|

make sure all drivers are up to date, audio, video, etc.

Then check your temps, my northbridge was overheating and was causing my freezing issues, not the cpu not the gpu, the northbridge was the culprit. Put a little fan on it and no problems since.

Mine oced GTX 470 can do Vantage, Furmark, Darksider, Fifa11 but 1 hour Civil5 will make it freeze. My guess would be the gpu. If you did overclock it, try setting it back to the default.

drivers or your overclock.

verify integrity of your game cache as well to make sure if there is any corrupted files.

Thanks for all the replies, I know it's not GPU or CPU temps, so I'm gonna check that drivers are updated, verify integrity, and log my NB temps while I'm playing smile.gif

edit: I just ran SpeedFan and 1 of the temps (temp3) has a pic of fire next to it redface.gif

Could temp3 be the Northbridge?

EDIT: Checked drivers they're all up to date (except AMD drivers, they are 10.5 - only stable ones I could find)

EDIT: check integrity of game cache.. there were 2 corrupt files, I hope that it's fixed now - but that flame pic next to Temp3 still worries me, I just don't know what Temp3 is!

i cant see the pic at work, websensed. but take a box fan or any fan if you have one, and set it next to your open case and have it blowing in and while you play for a while and see if it still happens.

Could be your CPU overclock. Up the voltages by a bit.

I remember.. once I was able to run everything u can possibly imagine (passed tests) and then I ran BC2 with the overclock, played 30 min boom the same sound thingie ;D *RESTART ME E E E EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*

What drivers are you using?
for me it freezes in snow gameplay... may be a driver issue...ATI must build new stable drivers

I'm using 10.5 drivers.. and if the problem continues now that I found 2 corrupt files with the check, I'll try upping voltage bit by bit till it's stable.
Thanks smile.gif
