Edit- Nevermind. You have DDR2 memory
Jean-Luc has the best suggestions so far. For $300, you're not going to find a better deal unless you shop used (and even then, I don't think it could be better, unless you're lucky enough to find some crazy person who'll give you a cheap i7).

EDIT: Actually there's a combo for $300 exactly.
Are the two video card slots both 16x or is one 8/4?

They're both x16. The M4A89GTD on the other hand, runs x8/x8.

I bought and used the Gigabyte board you linked, but it runs warmer than most boards I've seen. It's also suggested that its BIOS isn't so hot. As an 980FX Gigabyte board owner...yeah, Gigabyte has had some BIOS issues with their newer boards it seems. I suggest this board:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-633-_-Product

As for the CPU, if Newegg had stock of the X3 740s, I'd suggest that, as their unlock rate is exceptionally good. If you can go with $320 total price, then get a 1055T and the above motherboard..it works fine. The 1055T runs $180.

Or, you can get this: A 3.1 Ghz quad Athlon II for $115.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103885

If you don't like those options, the 955BE is my other suggestion.

OTOH, the difference between x16/x16 and x8/x8 is less than 5% given even the best GPUs today.
