I'm new to folding, but I run a Water cooled 1055t @ 4Ghz 24/7.
Ill join but I need a little tutorage. When I say new, I mean like 3 WUs. If you want a "turnkey x6" not me. Im just learning about getting started with all 6 cores.

~@6 cares will I still be able to use my computer for basic stuff (not gaming)?
~I have a second mobo laying around as well as every thing but a 2cnd x6
If i make it a 24/7 x6 folder will I also be able to use it as a media center for like watching videos?

Do you plan to run -bigadv after you complete your first 10 WU's?

Yes, if I can still get some use of my computer, does bigady bog it down so bad that I cant really use my computer? All I need to do is use the net and the occasional movie.
I have a second am2+ plat I can build.
my question is:
~ how functional is a x6 running bigady 24/7? is it still usable to some extent?

As far as I know it's fine. Argosy (a team member) plays SC2 occasionally on his i7 rig doing bigadv, so I'd figure you shouldn't have too much trouble surfing the web and watching movies.

Ok I have been studying how to bigady a x6...
Here is what I have been reading
http://www.overclock.net/folding-hom...igadv-amd.html

Here are a few questions I have:
~the Wine trick adds 2 more (fake)cores?
~if so is Native Linux better than VM?
~if so is it limited to Ubuntu, or will Mint 10 do the trick?
~cant I do this now, set up SMP, get to 10 WU's then start bigady?

I have about a year worth Experience with Ubuntu so I have no prob going back. Only left Linux for compatibility optimization, and to lean win 7.
While in native Linux I ran vista in Virtualbox, so I been there done that too.

If I can do this from native Linux, and still be able to watch HD movies, Im all over it regardless of who's team I'm on.

Being addicted to Folding is Way better than being addicted to MMO's.
I get to keep my life and help people!
