What this adapter does is the same as those additional Molex plug on some motherboards. There have been cases where mobos are fried from drawing too much power through just the 24-pin ATX plug.
the P55 FTW I had as well as my R3F has a spot on the board to plug in a 4-pin molex for additional power to the pcie lanes, I'm guessing this does the same thing?

So how exactly is that make it "looks gimmicky"?
Because its another gimmick that does nothing but try to sell people on useless hardware.

Yup, exactly the same thing.

It's not useless for users running multiple high-end video cards on motherboards without the auxillary PCIe power plug. As already stated, there have been cases where the 24-pin ATX plug area burns out or melts.

Thats exactly why its useless. Who is going to be running 500 to 2000 dollars worth of video cards on a 50 dollar mobo with a crappy PSU.

The iClear is meant to filter voltages and such so that you've got less interference in the signals being transmitted.

It does not add an extra leg of power to the board like this does.

That's not what it is at all. It's not a 50 dollar mobo. It's a pricey mobo, but there seems to be a problem with people trying to push their luck with tons of great cards resulting in meltage and shortouts and whatnot. This is just designed to combat that.
