Can't believe this hasn't been posted yet...here comes Net Neutrality.

Quote:
The Federal Communications Commission on Tuesday approved a plan to regulate the Internet despite warnings that it could strangle industry investment and damage an economy that is still struggling to recover.
The 3-2 vote fell along partisan lines with Democrats capitalizing on their numerical advantage.
The rules would prohibit phone and cable companies from abusing their control over broadband connections to discriminate against rival content or services, such as Internet phone calls or online video, or play favorites with Web traffic.

The only way to regulate the internet is to remove it.

What we have NOW is net neutrality - there is no law, you can't get any more neutral than that. If any ISP currently launches say a multi-tiered pricing and bandwidth plan, as it stands right now that ISP would go under simply do to people jumping ship. Mark my words, by the end of this that exact business model will be codified into law, and you won't have any place to jump ship to.

Typical fox news....

No mention of the full list of changes, no source, no documentation... And people still listen to this crap like it's coming straight from their messiah.

The IDEA of net neutrality and what the FCC are calling net neutrality are two different things, but no one is pointing THAT out.

Comcast already does this. Who am I going to jump ship to? Qwest? LOL. Right, may as well get dial up, it's more consistent than Qwest.

The problem is not that we have ISP's and tierd pricing, the problem is we don't have ENOUGH ISP's. If I could jump to an ISP that gave me cable internet with 12 down and 2.5 up, unlimited, with limited cable for 60 bucks a month, I'd jump to them. As it stands now, however, there is no option for me to go to because of the Monopoly that is Comcast in this region.
