HDTune Reporting some warnings

My hard drive apparently has 2 errors, the first being an unstable sector. Is one unstable sector enough to get an RMA from WD?

It also has an Ultra DMA error and advises me to check my cables. After swapping the cable out the error is still present, however how do I know if this error is the hard drive or my sata port? I've tried using all 4 ports and still get the error. The only other sata device I'm using is my dvd burner.

Also, I cannot get any hard drive tools to work properly. Defrag and scan disk never complete, nor does WD's scanner.

Back-up and RMA just to be safe. Sounds like it could be a logic board problem, along with the bad sector on the disk. either way a problem that has the potential to get worse. WD is one of the best when it comes to RMAs.

Just my

Yeah I was just glancing over their rma policy and they seem pretty good. I like the option of them sending me a drive first, as this is the only functioning hard drive I have laying around.

All HDD have multiple bad sectors. The HDD will remap these bad sectors to a pool of reserve sectors.

SMART values don't go down. If you have a Ultra DMA issue but resolve it, the warning will always remain. If the count does not change, then you are fine.

Do scanning processes get stuck at the same point each time?

My ultra dma count is up 1969. I'll have to check it when i get home and see if it went up. I just swapped the cable this morning and I don't think it has gone up but can't be sure.

The WD scanner gets stuck at 90%, defrag says defragmenting disk indefinitely, and scan disk (or is it check disk) repeatedly got stuck at 12% iirc

Ive had some weird SMART readings on my Sammy F3 in RAID0 and in AHCI. HDTune Pro 4.6 told me my HDD were on their last leg while 2 were in raid0 and now as individual drives they are fine except for the one I RMA'd to Newegg

Im still a bit confused on reading SMART results lolz

Update: After running for 9 hours my Ultra DMA errors seem to have ceased. I am still experiencing some terrible sluggishness from this drive. I'm going to see if defrag will complete for me tonight and see if that helps. Does reinstalling windows without completely wiping the drive help?
