Is there any way to get rid of that "Desktop Folder" that sits on the desktop?
I want my desktop to be a desktop, like it is in Gnome.
I put another hard drive in another computer to look at Kubuntu again, that is one of my gripes this desktop folder window.
No I don't want the other option it gives me to show all those folders.
I want my desktop to be my desktop.
If there is no way to have it that way, I'll just hit the power button to stop its upgrade to 10.10 and plug my good ol Ubuntu drive back in.

Different strokes I guess, the desktop folder was one of the reasons I switched to KDE.

why do people quite faster on KDE than Gnome? IDK. I guess I'm the only one who Gnome doesn't like. Stupid Gnome and self destructing in my presence.

Gnome works great for me, it is set up in a way that I like. KDE just has too many things
"Hidden" so to speak.
Like the control panel in windows when it is not set to "Classic"

I wouldn't say they're hidden, there are just so many things to choose from that I sometimes forget where everything is at. Too each their own I say on the DE. I just know that the only distro to survive being in my presence while having Gnome was UNR10.04. It's the only one that didn't randomly die.

Your problem is not KDE. It's Kubuntu.

Try KDE LIVE on openSUSE

Well that link you gave, shows that desktop folder....lost my interest right away.
Like I said, I want my desktop to be my desktop, not some folder there.

Oh for cryin' out loud! You judge before you even scratch the surface. In the pic here http://home.kde.org/~kdelive/ quoted from above do you not see the big "X" at the bottom of the Plasma menu mouseover popup? Just click that and poof it's gone. Or you could click on the lasso and resize it... or the wrench and alter it. The configurability and power of KDE is unrivaled, period. That's why Linus Torvalds himself uses and recommends it. Gnome is for newbs and that isn't a bad thing but it is the truth. If you aren;t a newb or no longer wish to be one you owe it to yourself, considering how little effort it takes, to give it a thorough checkout.
