I take it you had an X3 or X2 and successfully unlocked the other locked cores?

I would start with making sure it is stable on stock settings with the unlocked cores and then go from there

Ok. Here the breakdown on that you need to know for ocing any athlon II and phenom II cpu on air.
1) Max cpu voltage is 1.55v.
2) Keep temp under 55c.
3) NB frequency take it as high as you can take it and stable.
4) CPU/NB voltage max 1.45v. This the voltage for NB Frequency.
5) Keep HT around 2000.

Assuming 1333 9-9-9 settings, you've got generic RAM. Sadly this may prove a limit on your overclocking.

Uhm,I will upgrade my ram to corsair next month.
i've unlock it to x2 555be - x4 b55.i think it's stable.
no crash playing games,cod4 and 6,left 4 dead 2,RE5 etc. and prime95 for only 2 hrs. but i don't understand the result except for the 0 errors
i tried Overclocking x17 and bus frequency to 205 and still it didn't crash
but i wanna make sure if what i did was right 'cause i've read that u need to adjust voltage and something.anyways my cpu temp is 41-43° after that.

You need to adjust voltage only if unstable. Prime95 should be run for longer, i.e. 12 hours; if you want a quick test, use OCCT or LinX/IntelBurn.

so the x17 and 205mhz that i did is correct or should i stock it on 200mhz bus speed?what about the NB thing?so after 12 hours and still no errors and the temp is still 43° that means i overclock successfully?

Looks like you're doing good so far temps are well within and you are stable.

one last thing.i increase the multiplier by x17.5 and then bsod after a few test of prime
that's the example of unstable or that's the limit of my OC?or should i increase the voltage and what specific voltage? tnx man.am glad ur in phil too

I'm actually in the process of learning the same stuff. A few guys pointed out that my board doesn't have mosfet cooling, and only has a 4+1 power phase. I've read on the cooling, but still not quite understanding the power thing.
In messing around with just a little overclocking(watching my temps) i set the multiplier to 18.5. I have ran it with a few games, it never overheats above 46C with the stock fan. But I have yet to run Prime95 at all. Bios says I'm at 3700mhz. OH I'm using the 965.

Helpful post BTW.
