Can someone explain what the heck is wrong with my internet?

Hey

I live in the deepest depths of the French countryside, and the internet here is abysmal. Cut outs, etc.. And my download speed never passes 150 kb/s

For example, if Im downloading one thing, on one pc, it will be at 130 Kb/s normally, if I then download something on another PC at the same time, it will divide the peek download speed by 2, normally rendering download 1 at 70kb/s, and download 2 at 30 - 40 kb/s

This is the case, whether its a torrent with 10 seeders, a torrent with 5000 seeders, or ftp/http download, Any server, it has always been the same.

However today, I downloaded project blackout , using their deploy client. (free FPS), the speed went: 30, 40, 60, 75, 100, 150, 180, 200, 220, 250, and hung around 250, 260 kb/s

So why can it download that fast using a game's deploy client, but not using any other download method?

Maybe someone could help me by explaining the cause of this?

Thanks

Tom

Location, the server that the file was stored was closer to you than the 5000 seeders

I'm telling you it's location. Internet "can" boast it's speed but not double of what you think you normally get. The server location was closer to the main isp site near you than you think

Location!

This explains why house A is having a better internet experience than house Z. House A simply is nearer to the location of the ISP/Company/Net provider than house Z. You get our drift?

I download torrents at about 2 mb/s

I get downloads from usenet at 3.2 mb/s

The usenet servers have higher bandwith. I would say the thing that your downlading faster than anything is using all your bandwith and is closer to you. Most online games have servers around the world and the one the download came from is probally fairly close to you.

I would guess most of the seeders for torrents are in the USA or UK so they arn't as close as the game server.
