[MT] MIT Scientists Decipher 3 Billion Year Old Genomic Fossils

Quote:
MIT scientists have created a sort of genomic fossil that shows that the collective genome of all life underwent an enormous expansion about 3 billion years ago, which they're calling the Archean Expansion. Many of the new genes appearing in the Archean Expansion are oxygen related, and could be the first biological evidence of the Great Oxidation Event, the period in Earth's history when oxygen became so plentiful that many anerobic life forms may have become extinct. A report of this work by Eric Alm and Lawrence David will appear in Nature online Dec. 19.
I love how all the catastrophic events have appropriately titled names.

The Cambrian Explosion just sounds AWESOME!

Wow that's really amazing! Where could they have found them?

Amazing how our planets atmosphere is so crystal clear and from space it is easy to see that we have a bountiful amount of life on our tiny little planet. Amazes me that no one has found us yet...or at least made it widely known that they have found us. Would be so sad to find out that we are truly alone in the universe. /tear

alone or not doesn't matter. this is a really, really big place and if anyone set sail right now to our planet, it would take thousands of years to get here.

And that is why we must expand! Expand to the darkest and lightest places of the universe. My theory is that if Aliens do arrive, I would believe that they be US from the Future, with a few biological enhancements.

I believe we are not alone cuz if you ever watch Ancient Aliens.. everything seems to point the stars, especially Orion. I believe we once were visited by aliens and gave the tools to do things and shape mankind. Think about the stones, they are evidence enough.

Still.. there are solar systems in other sectors of space too.. i hope truly we do get visited by Aliens so they can spank the government to get on track instead of being power tripped or corrupted.
