Remember the i3 has HT which gives it 4 threads

In Vantage my I3 Keeps up with my Phenom II x4 i used to have

The i3 is also faster in most games than a Phenom II, and has a massive clock for clock advantage
Whats your score?

Got any screen shots?

Troll bait. Try reading the whole thread and saying something intelligent. If you're not capable of doing that then just continue being a brainless Intel fanboy.

Not atm, but the Phenom II which is a true Quad got 12k
My i3 which is a dual core with HT got 12k aswell

Also it is faster in most games such as Crysis,

You do understand that HT isn't good for optimized code, and plays no advantage in duo core games right?

Does anyone really even play Crysis? Is older than dirt, looks like GI Joe play, and has been surpassed by new, far better - multiplayer games.

My PS1 plays PS1 games better than this computer, though I'm not sure, like Crysis benchmarking it's a valid comparison.

Anyways my 965 got 13745 @ 4GHz and it was folding/prime stable at 4.3GHz but I never got around to benching it in Vantage at those speeds. I'd assume it would be over 14k however.

Keep in mind also that any sort of program that took full advantage of four cores - not four threads - would run smoother on a chip with four physical cores than one that can process two threads on one core but still has two less cores. HT can't process both threads at the same time, so if there is any optimization in the code - hence wasn't written in a basement - then the HT would slow your speeds down.

This can be seen clearly when programs like LinX are used and i7 users see less GFlops with HT on than they do with it off.

Crysis may be older than dirt, but its still a excellent looking game

Also anything that can use 4 cores can use 4 threads right?
So wont having HT on help my performance in game?

HT won't really help you IG, if the game believes you have four cores and is optimized to use them then it will be trying to send two threads down 1 cores at the same time, this is going to slow the processing down.

This can easily be compared with our chip vs an i5, your chip has 2 cores 4 threads, and i5 has 4 cores 4 threads. If you try running benchmarks on single threaded apps at the same speeds you'll probably enjoy it, but the moment you try to compare your cpu to an i5 on apps that can run on 3-4 cores and are requesting threads constantly you will not enjoy the results.

Two sided story, as Balla noted. HT cant process both threads at the same time.

Need 1 physical core for each thread in a multi-core optimized app.

So then theres hexacore i7 that absolutely obliterates all known consumer grade Windows code.

I'm only on the AMD wagon cuz its what I can afford, but then the more I learn, I realize I may have poorly invested my money in what I have anyway. Such is life.

For gaming a game has to be specifically written to use hyper-threading and turning off HT can actually increase performance in non HT enabled games and applications. Intel's HT technology is really nothing special and game developers don't use it much because it's not cost effective to implement. It's more effective for programmers and developers to write programs which fully utilize 4 or more cores and they don't exclude a large proportion of users ie people with AMD or other chips.
That's where the mainstream computer world is headed Intel plans to have 32 core chips in the next few years.
