There is 1 other factor that needs to be considered: Due to limitation of your 32-bit OS, your 4GB system ram is already not fully utilized, perhaps about 3.25GB? And, if HD6970 is used, its 2GB Vram (vs 1.3GB of GTX570) might acquire enough system memory address that you will have less system RAM to use. This might or might not affect you but I reckon this is worth to look into a little further.

If this factor is not a problem to you, I suggest the 6970.
love your attention to detail +rep

not a problem as ill be upgrading to 64bit soon

Yes, $315 for 6970 is just too good a deal to pass up. Get it!

GTX570.

...if you really want to save money...

You can get a used GTX480 which has nearly identical performance to a GTX 570 and can go for as low as $250.

GTX 570, HD 6970, GTX 480 are all about at dead heat in benchmarks.

They're similar.

Guru3d has the 6970 2db louder than the GTX570
http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon...6970-review/13

Anandtech has the 6970 ~3db quieter than the GTX570
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4061/a...eon-hd-6950/24

Probably sample variance.
