[Mozilla] Firefox 4 Beta 8 released - Page 2

So, I want to update the Firefox 4 Beta 9. How do I backup both my bookmarks and passwords. I always used MozBackup but it doesn't seem to support FF 4.

From what I can remember at least for the bookmarks, you can go to the following:

Backup
Bookmarks>>Organize Bookmarks>>Import and Backup>>Backup...

Import
Bookmarks>>Organize Bookmarks>>Import and Backup>>Restore>>Choose File...>>(navigate to the file where you backed it up at, should be a .json file)

As for the passwords, you can try the following:

Navigate to your profile folder(Where is that at?)>>then you want to copy three files, they are named:

signons.txt
signons2.txt
key3.db

Copy and past them into the place you want to back them up to, and you are done. You can also move these three files to a new Firefox profile (say on a new computer, for example).

Bookmarks menu? Shouldn't become dependent on automatic passwords, should always know them even if you don't type them in.

Ah, well crawling about in appdata I found a profiles folder. Copied the contents across and bingo, all works. It seems like Beta 8 is the latest "stable" beta whereas beta 09 is a fairly untested nightly build, hence when installed, it's called "Minefield".

Is the start-up time fixed anyway?

I found it to be a little zimmer-frame ish.

Dunno, seems pretty nippy on my SSD. I don't notice any real world difference in speed between this and Chrome.

Grr I cannot convince myself to buy an SSD. Still hope it is fixed might start using it as my daily browser.

lol @ Mozilla. I only use Firefox to save my plethora of tabs that I need to get to. This thing should be out of beta for months by now.

Chrome only needs more obscure addons to be perfect.

PM a mod, they can re-instate "soft delete" posts. If they "hard delete", then they can't, although, most forums never allow hard deleting.
