GTX 580 SLI Surround - Stability Issues - Page 2

I looked up your PSU and sure enough it has 3 independent 12v rails @ 20a(not really preferable construction).

What you need to try and Overclocking this might still not be enough Amperage, but it should be considering what your first post said.

1. Place your CPU on 1 of the 12v rails along with anything else that needs this connection(not including your GPUs)

2. Put 1st 580 on the second 12v rail.

3. Put 2nd 580 on the third 12v rail.

Your PSU manual will have instructions on how this can be done properly.

Well, I've looked into Dual PSU-ing and decided I'm too young to die, and after rearranging all my cable modules, I've found that nothing can truly stabilise it.

So.. I'll have to bite the bullet and get a new PSU. I went for the 1.2kw Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold. Thanks for the recommendation tconroy but I've decided to just go overkill. No more PSU issues for me, please.

Will test and report back tomorrow.

i would have thought psu as well. i am running a bfg tech 1200-watt psu with 2 580's (stock levels) and an oc'ed 920 at 4.2ghz and it never breaks a sweat.

Looks like problem solved with the new PSU .

Thanks for the help and I'll never be buying an off-brand piece of crap to power my rigs again.
