Does anybody know different?

last time posting in this thread. You will not find an air cooler that fits that beats a H70

I also have the HPC Reaper Ram from OCZ. It runs great and this is an interesting topic I intend to follow as it might relate to my set-up if I decide to go with another brand of cooler. Yeah the friggin ram is HUGE and very nice to look at and overclocks pretty good. I've had my PC6400 800mhz ram at over 1000mhz before and never had an issue.

I'd like to thank those do did offer advise - it wasn't the answer I was looking for, but after a long night of searching around and doing some careful measurements I can't find anything that will work either.

I placed an order for the H70 and newegg says it will be here tomorrow They also happed to drop the price to $95usd at the moment. Between the low price and the ringing endorsements the H70 has I'm going to take the WC plunge. I realize this isn't a "real" WC loop and I won't get the levels of cooling I would if I did a full blown loop, but to get my feet wet (pardon pun) in the WC area this is a good start.

I guess getting an H70 is a good step towards a good cooling solution. If you want to go more towards a real liquid cooling setup you could mod the H70 after you are comfortable with it.
I know the H50 is pretty easily modded, so the h70 should be pretty much the same. Look for a guide on the water cooling section.
Modding is a great way to increase the cooling of your system.
here is my system with an H50 before the mod.

here is the H50 modded with a swiftech res.

Sorry for double post.

Don't worry about using aftermarket thermal paste on the H70, the stuff it comes with is already amazing stuff.

I'm almost positive that a Megahalems would clear you ram, that is if your Rampage board is similar to my Crosshair iii. You probably only be able to run 1 120mm fan tho.

In case anybody in the future searches and finds this thread -

I ended up with a H70 and its been running for about 10 days now. I was able to get my clock rate up past 4ghz now, and at the same voltage it was failing before. I'm starting to thing the temps were too high for stable running, even though it never went above 82c.

The H70 works as advertised and it does make a easy entry point to a liquid cooling setup. I might mod it in the future, but for now I'm quite happy.

OP: The Archon was designed with you in mind. It is designed to clear tall RAM. Look it up.
