Computer keeps freezing in game...

hello guys,
i've recently noticed that my computers performance has been very poor for the passed week and even worse in the past 48 hours it freezes in all my games about 5 minutes in :/ and i am confused why it is doing this >_<

i a defragmentate my hardrive every week, update my drivers, i scan my computer every third bootup using AVAST and i look for any unwanted programs and delete them (threw control panel ^^)... so i'm a little confused as to why this is happening.. i gave my computer 2 full scans, nothing came up i checked my hdd to see how much room i have left, 1tb has 550gb left and the 320 has 280gb left, i try to keep my files nice and neat so why is this happening?
i am beginning to think it's got something to do with my registry folders...
does any one know of a free registry cleaner or any other things i could try?

You're treating this like a software problem...unless it's a driver issue in the graphics card department, then it's probably a hardware issue.

well steam updates my graphics card driver every month, and not too long ago i updated my motherboards driver. so i guess i have reason to believe it's software related, any ideas?

Update your hardware through the manufacturers website.. If you have a nvidia card then update it through www.nvidia.com, if you have ATI then go through ATI if you want the latest drivers.

Unless you tampered with registry files or uninstalled something very important (I really wouldn't mess with this unless you know what your doing) then its most likely hardware related.

Keep an eye on your temps while gaming, maybe CPU or GPU is getting too hot.

EDIT: Also I think Avast has a gaming mode so that it won't run while your gaming. Be sure to enable that to see if that will help with heat and extra stress to your system.

you don't have to temper with registry files for them to corrupt, it's almost impossible for them not to corrupt...Any time you make a change to any of your computers settings and surfing online, your registry keys are stored and updated in the registry.Over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions and full of junk and errors, so if you run a program,it will take a long time to require the registry file which opens it and sometimes it cant find it due to regsitry errors, so it just sits there.

i just updated all the drivers for all my hardware thats has drivers from they're official wesite, no change at all :S all my temps are at around ~35 degrees C... so it has to be an issue with the software :/

Thanks for the registry update?

I told you to use the manufacturers website in the future.. I wasn't saying that your problem was your drivers. Whatever software you have running in the background that would cause your game to do this probably shouldn't be running and tells me you don't do proper upkeep on your PC. If you plan to game you shouldn't have software that runs programs in the background.

So your temps WHILE GAMING are 35 degrees C?

Use CCleaner to get rid of junk files and to clean the registry. As for you thinking its a software problem then I would do task manager and see what you have running in the background and stop anything you don't need.

Good luck to you
